The Board of Director’s of Literacy Volunteers Valley Shore would like to express our sincere thanks and admiration for all who participated in our First Annual April Fool’s Backward Mile and 5k Run/Walk in beautiful Essex, CT on March 29th. We were thrilled with the turn-out for this terrific community fundraiser in support of Literacy Volunteers.

LVVS trains tutors to teach Basic Reading and English-as-a-Second-Language primarily to adult residents of the Valley Shore area who cannot read, write or speak English, or who would like to improve these basic skills. This one-to-one instruction is held confidential and is completely without charge to the student. The success of the race was made possible by the support of our generous sponsors, including many LVVS volunteers, local individuals, civic organizations, and businesses.
